Manchester City Women score five past Arsenal

Manchester City produced a brilliant attacking display to beat title rivals Arsenal and continue their 100% start to the Women's Super League One season.

Jane Ross and Steph Houghton scored for 2016 champions City either side of Emma Mitchell's equaliser in the first half.

Arsenal levelled again through Heather O'Reilly two minutes after half-time before Georgia Stanway put City ahead for a third time in the 70th minute.

Goals for Izzy Christiansen and Jill Scott completed the rout for the hosts.
Victory for Nick Cushing's City follows their win against Yeovil Town in their opening fixture and takes them top of the league after two games.

They looked shaky defensively at times, but were rampant going forward against a team who, along with 2017 Spring Series winners Chelsea, are expected to be their main challengers as they bid for a second WSL 1 title.

Vivianne Miedema, a Euro 2017 winner with Netherlands this summer, came off the bench for her Arsenal debut following her summer move from Bayern Munich but her side drop to sixth on three points.
