Islam Doesn't Teach Terrorism, Clarification Of The Quoted Qur'an Verses

I have gone through a post yesterday tittled MURIC order the arrest of apostle Solomon I came across a comment by one user named mortebo for which he shared a picture quoting some Qur'an verses and ask if anybody can explain. I decides not to only quote and reply his questions but answer him as a thread of its own so that other people will know that islam doesn't teach terrorism and Muslims are not terrorist. As long as you will read to the end and be just to yourself, you can understand what I mean. Alo find below the image he shared.

Here we go....

Good afternoon Uncle

Please find below the answers to your questions with little knowledge of mine.

Yes as your image tittle show, islam is a religion of peace, the word ISLAM self is derived from the word ASSALAM which means PEACE

1. starting with your first quote, that's is Surah Baqarah Chapter 2 verse 191, actually using this verse as reference without considering the verse that precede it will completely change the meaning of the verse, mind you Uncle, Qur'an is not a like a novel that you can quote any portion of it as you wish to make reference with it. One message may be scattered in 2 or more verse, so taking one of these verses as reference will not explain the message correctly if not changing the message completely to opposite. Now read from verse 190 down to verse 191

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 190:

Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 191:

And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

2. Your second quote uncle is Surah Al_imran verse 28, the verse is telling Muslims of that time and also of today to be careful of favoring the people of the scripture(that's the jews and the christian) to being friend with them against their Muslim brothers. In simple term its telling muslim not to be alliance with the non-muslims against muslim, find below the full text of the verse

Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 28:

Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.

3. Yes Uncle you just quote Surah Al_imran verse 85, but you misunderstood the message it convey, the verse is telling us that only Islam(that's the religion of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Eishmel, David, Solomon, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad etc) is acceptable by Allah in the day of judgement, anybody that goes with other religion, Allah will not accepted it.

Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 85:

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).

The following verse also back the above one Uncle

Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 19:

Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieves in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, then surely, Allah is Swift in calling to account.

4. Surah Alma'eeda verse 33, you totally changed the meaning of this verse, as in you did not translate it correct, the verse didn't say infidels, rather it say those who wage war against Allah and his messenger, and who are those? in simple term are those people who fight the messager and his companions or fight any means of conveying Allah's message to the mankind.

Surah Al-Maeda, Verse 33:

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;

5. Surah Anfaal, verse 12, read the full text below uncle, the message is this verse is that Allah is telling the prophet that the victory the believers get in their last battle against their counterparts is as a result of guidance and assistance from Allah, as Allah send angels to accompany the muslim troops, and then send confusion or commotion among the disbelievers hearts so that they can be defeated easily by the muslims

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 12:

Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."

To be fair, Allah went far to tell the reason why he did that to them, find it in the next verse uncle

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 13:

This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment.[color]
6. Surah Anfaal, verse 60, you just change direction, Allah didn't say weapon alone, but he said power. To cut the story short, Allah is telling believers to organize themselves and have all the power to face their counterparts in the next battle.

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 60:

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.

However, to show you that islam is a religion of peace, now read what Allah said in the next verse that follow

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 61:

But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).

7. Surah Anfaal, verse 65, Uncle this verse was revealed to prophet for him to comfort, give courage and confidence to the believers to fight back against the unbelievers. At the time the Mushrikun(the arab pegans) have been molesting multreating, and killing muslims, just because they believe in Allah, then a verse was revealed for the muslims to fight back(I will quote the verse later), by then the believers were confused, thinking in their minds how can a small number of them face thousands of the unbelievers for fight, then this verse was revealed to give them courage and to show them Allah and his angels will be with them.

Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 65:

O Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.

8. Surah Attaubah, verse 5, but uncle to understand this verse well start from verse 3-5, and remember all these commands are to those mushrikun(the arab pegans) who have kill and molest many believers at the time, you can even see in verse 4 that Allah exclude those muahrikuns who sign treaty of not to fight against Islam again. see it below uncle

Surah At-Taubah, Verse 3:

And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.

Surah At-Taubah, Verse 4:

Except those of the Mushrikun with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfill their treaty to them to the end of their term. Surely Allah loves Al- Mattaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2).

Surah At-Taubah, Verse 5:

Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikun (see V. 2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, then leave their way free. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

To be more specific uncle, this chapter is most harsh chapter in the Qur'an as it come to tell Muslims that enough is now more than enough they should by all means stand to fight back against the mushrikuns

9. Surah Attaubah, verse 30, completely different with what you quote, this verse is telling us that the jews said that's Uzair is a son of Allah and also Christians said that Jesus is a son of Allah, Allah is telling us that all they said is nothing but lies as they follow the footsteps of their forefathers

Surah At-Taubah, Verse 30:

The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

10. Surah Attabah, verse 123, as I told you before this chapter is very sticky, this verse is telling the believers how to retaliate the long long time oppress they recieved from the mushrikuns

Surah At-Taubah, Verse 123:

O you who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who are the Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2).

11. Surah Al_Hajj, verse 19, is not telling muslims to punish non muslims the way you quote it Uncle, its telling the punishment that the disbelievers will recieve in the hereafter, read well uncle

Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 19:

These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord; then as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads.

12. the last one Uncle, Surah Muhammad, verse 4, this verse is not telling muslims to go and attack non muslims, rather its telling them what they should do to the unbelievers on the battlefield, understand the word battlefield.
